In 1964, Amherst Country Club Inc. was formed to provide a recreational facility for the southern New Hampshire area. The golf course was built on the farmland of Ralph Currier by Robert and Arleen Currier with dozens of other investors from the community. The original course consisted of 9 holes beginning on the west side of Ponemah Road. The club house was originally the building located across the road in what is now a residential house on the 11th hole.

Today, Amherst Country Club is an established public golf facility with a reputation for ensuring a quality golfing experience. Our facilities provide a “forgiving”, yet challenging layout ; multiple tees to make it enjoyable to play with mixed abilities; consistently good quality conditions; consistent pace of play; scenic settings; and most importantly, memorable customer service.

In 1971, the course was expanded to 18 holes, and in 1975 a new club house was completed in the location of the current facility. This new structure was equipped with 3 banquet rooms and a golfer’s lounge and pro shop.  A very popular event and comedy venue were accommodated in that clubhouse.  In 1988, the building was destroyed by fire. It was replaced with the current club house and pavilion in 1989.

Amherst Country Club is dedicated to preserving the natural resources of the area, and will continue to operate with the utmost regard for the environment and the local community.
